August 11, 2026 – The Research Triangle community came together today to “Stuff a Bus” with school supplies in anticipation of the new school year.

GoTriangle, the region’s public transit agency, worked in partnership with its neighbors at Tri Properties Incorporated to fill up a bus at Churchill Hall off of Page Road today. Every seat on the GoTriangle bus was full of school supplies like notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, folders, and much more. GoTriangle staff donate 15 boxes of supplies — an amount that doubled last year’s collection.

The school supplies will be presented to teachers through the following partner organizations:

·       Crayons 2 Calculators (Durham County)

·       Tools 4 Schools (Wake County)

·       Teacher Supply Store (Chapel Hill-Carrboro)

“Our goal for the ‘Stuff the Bus’ school supply drive was to ensure equity in classrooms across our service area by alleviating teachers of the financial responsibility of supplying their classrooms,” said Yasmine Shepard, GoTriangle’s Compliance Program Manager. “I am proud to say that thanks to so many community partners, we accomplished that – and much more.”
