Proposed February 2027 Service Changes Public Comment
New Loops & New 15 Minute Service: Route enhancements to improve express routes and trips every 15-minutes between Durham and the Regional Transit Center.
GoTriangle is proposing changes to Route CRX, DRX, 700, and 705 to improve transit access, streamline routes, and provide more consistent service across the region.
Route CRX
- Route CRX will begin and end at Raleigh Union Station on all trips.
- Route CRX will use the same route and make the same stops on all trips in Downtown Raleigh.
- Stops along the route loop in Downtown Raleigh will no longer be served.
With the proposed service changes, Route CRX will have stops removed in Downtown Raleigh. This will result in a consistent route and stops in Downtown Raleigh for all trips. Route CRX will start and end at Ralegh Union Station Bus Facility (RUS Bus) and stops along the Downtown Raleigh route loop will be removed. See list below. Route CRX will continue to stop at the District Drive Park and Ride, along Hillsborough St, and at RUS Bus with no changes in Chapel Hill. Riders can use Route 100 or GoRaleigh Route 9 to reach GoRaleigh Station from RUS Bus. This change aims to enhance service to places with the most ridership by streamlining the route and improving reliability. There will be no changes to frequency or hours of operation.

Route DRX
- New Route Loops: All trips follow the same loop and serve the same stops in downtown Raleigh and in Durham.
- Route DRX will make a loop through Downtown Raleigh and stop near GoRaleigh Station on all trips to and from Raleigh to improve transfers.
- Route DRX will use the same loop and make the same stops in Durham near Duke University and VA medical centers all day on weekdays.
- Some stops will no longer be served.
With the proposed service changes, Route DRX will stop near GoRaleigh Station on all trips. This will aid riders who connect to GoRaleigh routes or headed to other destinations in Downtown Raleigh. It will follow the same route and serve the same stops in Downtown Raleigh for all trips. Some stops will no longer be served by Route DRX. There would be no changes to frequency or hours of operation.
Additionally, Route DRX has proposed changes between Durham Station and Duke University. It will follow the same route and serve the same stops near Duke University. To do this, service would be removed at the Chapel Dr at Duke University Dr stops. Route DRX will continue to serve all other current stops. Riders may use Duke Transit or GoDurham routes to access this part of campus as an alternate.

Routes 700 & 705
- Weekdays, before 7pm: Trips leave every 15 minutes at both Durham Station and Regional Transit Center (RTC).
- Weekdays, before 7pm: Changes will be made to stops and routes for Routes 700 and 705.
- Weekdays, after 7pm and Weekends: No route or stop changes to Route 700. Schedules will change.
Weekdays, before 7pm: Together, Routes 700 and 705 will have consistent trips every 15 minutes between Durham Station and the Regional Transit Center (RTC). To make this happen, both routes need to have similar travel times. All stops will continue to be served, and both routes will continue to connect Durham Station and RTC.
Route 700
- Will serve Alexander Dr and NC 54 in RTP instead of Ellis Rd and Miami Blvd.
- Will continue to serve NC Central University and Durham Tech.
- Will continue to connect Durham Station and the Regional Transit Center.
Route 705
- Will serve Ellis Rd and Miami Blvd instead of Alexander Dr and NC 54.
- Will continue to connect Durham Station and the Regional Transit Center.
Weekdays, after 7pm and Weekends: No route or stop changes to Route 700. Schedules will change. Route 700 will continue to serve NC Central University, Durham Tech, Ellis Rd and Miami Blvd.
These proposed adjustments allow Routes 700 and 705 to provide dependable, high‑frequency service while maintaining access to key destinations across Durham and Research Triangle Park.
