Raleigh Union Station Bus Facility

Coming soon: Raleigh Union Bus Station Facility (RUS Bus)

Bus service to begin on August 3, 2025!

As the Capital City, Raleigh is the crossroads of the state. The new Raleigh Union Bus Station Facility (RUS Bus), seven years in the making and located adjacent to the existing Raleigh Union Station in Downtown Raleigh, will soon serve as a transit hub in the region and an integral part of the state’s connectivity.

And GoTriangle can’t wait to welcome you! The ribbon cutting for RUS Bus will take place July 25, 2025, a day full of remarks, tours, food trucks, and entertainment to celebrate the new facility. In addition, bus service from RUS Bus will begin on August 3. (See route information below.)

Once it is open, RUS Bus will weave together a street-level bus facility with bike- and pedestrian-friendly spaces. The multimodal facility will provide seamless connections between intercity rail; local, regional and express bus services; proposed commuter rail; and future Bus Rapid Transit.

RUS Bus, located at 525 West Hargett Street, is also part of a vibrant, integrated joint development in the heart of Raleigh’s Warehouse District that will eventually fuse on-site housing, retail/restaurant and parking amenities.

Development on RUS Bus began in 2018 after GoTriangle won a $20 million federal United States Department of Transportation BUILD grant. State and local funds also support the project.

RUS Bus Highlights
  • Off-street bus facility featuring six bays for passengers; two layover bays; waiting areas; passenger amenities; public restrooms; bike parking, bike racks and bike lockers; and access to Raleigh Union Station train service next door.
  •  Accommodations for future GoRaleigh bus rapid transit (BRT) station on West Street.
  • Roadway improvements along Hargett, West, and Martin streets, including integrated street spaces, sidewalk and crosswalk improvements, and pedestrian-scale amenities.
  • New traffic signals at two intersections, W Hargett St at S West St and W Martin St at S West St.
  • Pedestrian and bicycle enhancements.
