Wake County 2018 Transit Work Plan Available for Public Comment

 

 

The Wake County 2018 Transit Work Plan is available for public comment.  

“Last November, voters approved a referendum to fund the robust ten-year Wake County Transit Plan, and we’re starting to see the first elements of the plan unfold,” said GoTriangle Board Chair Jennifer Robinson from Cary. “GoTriangle, along with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), Wake County, and all twelve municipalities in Wake County, are ready to hear from the public on the projects proposed for next year.”

GoTriangle Service Resumes Monday on Delayed Start

Based on anticipated road conditions Monday morning, GoTriangle will begin service at 7:00 A.M. 

Safety remains our top priority as we resume the service many people rely on to get to work, class, healthcare appointments and other important places.  

To ensure safety, some routes, stops and times may be altered depending on conditions in the morning.  

It is extremely imporant that customers check for the latest service updates before heading to stops on Monday. 

GoTriangle Suspends All Sunday Service

Based on current road conditions from the winter storm, GoTriangle is suspending all bus service on Sunday, January 8 to ensure the safety of our customers and drivers.

No GoTriangle buses will operate until Monday morning at the earliest.

The GoTriangle operations team will continue evaluating road conditions, and customers are urged to check for service updates before heading to the bus stop.

Winter Weather Impacts GoTriangle Saturday Service

Based on current weather and road conditions, GoTriangle is altering bus service on Saturday January 7 to support safe operation.

GoTriangle will operate routes 100, 400, 700 and 800 from 8:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, starting later and ending early. GoTriangle's route 300, operated by GoCary, will not run, because all Saturday service has been suspended in Cary.

As conditions could potentially deterioriate throughout the day and the weekend, we urge customers to continue checking for updates on service before heading to the bus stop:

Durham-Orange Light Rail Project

The financial picture for the Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit (D-O LRT) Project has improved.  During a financial update at the January 4th work session, the GoTriangle Board of Trustees learned that existing transit revenues are projected to have the capacity to pay for the 17.7 mile, 18-station project without requiring additional local sources of funding. 

Federal Transit Administration Adds NC Central University Station To Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project

The Federal Transit Administration has officially approved adding a station at North Carolina Central University as part of the Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project. The FTA’s action, known as the Amended Record of Decision follows a Supplemental Environmental Assessment and 30-day public comment period on the proposed extension.

GoTriangle Sells Land to GoCary to Build Bus Operations Center, Furthers Commitment to Collaborative Support of New Transit Projects and Services

GoTriangle’s Board of Trustees announced today the sale of a nearly 9-acre tract of land to the Town of Cary. The Town will build a new bus operations and maintenance center on the site in support of GoCary which, in collaboration with GoRaleigh and GoTriangle, is working to grow its services as part of a commitment to tripling existing bus service under the Wake County Transit Plan.

As shoppers rush to finish their lists, GoTriangle is urging people to consider transit as an alternative to the stress of driving and hunting for a parking space.

GoTriangle routes provide weekday and weekend service to popular shopping destinations.  Route 800 serves The Streets at Southpoint, while Route 400 serves Patterson Place in Durham and Eastgate Shopping Center and University Place in Chapel Hill.
