Accessibility

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), all GoTriangle vehicles are accessible to individuals with disabilities and can provide ADA transportation services along our fixed-route public transportation network. GoTriangle has a policy of deploying the transit vehicle's ramp at any bus stop requested by the customer. Additionally, we transport mobility devices of all sizes and weights, as long as the lift or ramp of the vehicle can safely accommodate them.

Our fixed-route systems have up to 30 minutes to provide ADA service in cases where a bus is full or if equipment malfunctions. Mobility devices on our transit vehicles must be secured, whether the customer remains seated in the device or not. Our bus operators will allow the necessary time for patrons to board or disembark from the bus. We aim to ensure that customers have plenty of time to safely enter or exit the vehicle, regardless of how long it takes.

Information Accessibility:
GoTriangle passengers can contact the office to request printed materials in formats that are accessible to them, such as large print, Braille, or electronic files compatible with screen-reading technology. To request accessible materials, please get in touch with the GoTriangle Regional Information Center: call 919-485-7433 for fixed-route materials or 919-485-7468 for paratransit-related materials.

Priority Seating
Notices regarding Priority Seating are prominently displayed on each vehicle. Our goal is to ensure priority seating is available whenever possible. When a customer with a disability board and the priority seating is occupied, it is the role of the Bus Operator to request that the individuals move to other seats. This is necessary when the disability securement area needs to be used or when an eligible person requires access to the priority seating.

Service Animals
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), individuals can travel with service animals on GoTriangle vehicles and in their facilities. A service animal is defined as any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to assist a person with a disability.

Customers traveling with service animals receive the same services as all other customers, and this service is provided with dignity and respect, while ensuring safety and security.
However, any customer traveling with an animal may be asked to leave if the animal's behavior threatens the safe operation of the transit vehicle or poses a risk to the health, safety, or welfare of the public.

Stop Announcements
GoTriangle's fixed-route buses are equipped with an Automatic Voice Annunciation System that automatically uses schedule and GPS information to announce the timepoint bus stop. Each bus also features an electronic head sign that displays the bus route and direction of travel. In the event of a malfunction or unavailability of the technology, the bus operator will proactively make verbal announcements through the PA system to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, demonstrating our commitment to accessibility.
