GoTriangle board approves free fare for unpaid federal workers

Research Triangle Park, NC (Jan. 23, 2019) – GoTriangle’s Board of Trustees voted today to offer free fare on all of the agency’s routes to federal employees required to work during the prolonged government shutdown.

“This vote emphasizes the importance GoTriangle places on being a good neighbor and an important part of our community fabric,” said Jeff Mann, GoTriangle’s president and CEO. “Transportation costs can be an expensive part of a family budget, so we hope this gesture eases some of the burden for our friends who work for the federal government.”

Federal workers need only show their government IDs to bus operators when boarding. Federal employees can map a route at gotriangle.org. Questions? Please call 919-485-7433.
