President Donald Trump on February 3, 2026, signed into law the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026,” which provides funding for federal agencies, national priorities, and community projects throughout the nation for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026. Among the funded projects is $2 million in Community Project Funding that includes the GoTriangle Triangle Mobility Hub (TMH) project. When built, the Triangle Mobility Hub will be an intermodal transit center in Research Triangle Park (RTP) that will link bus service, paratransit, and micro-transit with future bus rapid transit, passenger rail, and the Triangle Bikeway.
“As our area continues to experience rapid growth, accessible and reliable transportation is essential to connecting people to opportunity and keeping communities moving forward,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. “By improving access to jobs, education, and healthcare, the Triangle Mobility Hub will strengthen regional connectivity and ensure our transit system works for everyone. I’m proud to help secure federal funding for this project and support smart, sustainable growth across the Triangle.”
“I was proud to secure $2 million in funding for GoTriangle’s Triangle Mobility Hub,” said Congresswoman Deborah Ross. “Now more than ever, we must invest in 21st century infrastructure to keep pace with North Carolina’s unprecedented growth. This project will expand access to jobs, education, and health care across the Triangle and strengthen our local economy.”
The Triangle Mobility Hub will serve as the anchor for regional connectivity in the Triangle. This new facility will enable GoTriangle to expand its bus service across the region, making it easier for people to access jobs, schools, healthcare, shopping, and recreation. With improved access to RTP and surrounding communities, the TMH will promote more accessible and sustainable travel options for everyone.
“At GoTriangle, our mission is ‘connecting people and the region with high-quality transit,’ and the Triangle Mobility Hub is another crucial step in fulfilling that mission,” said GoTriangle President/CEO Dr. Brian Smith. “We can’t make this happen without the wonderful support of our congressional delegation. We are grateful to Congresswoman Deborah Ross and Congresswoman Valerie Foushee for their unwavering support of public transportation projects here in the Triangle.”
Public Engagement Requested
A key part of the development process for the Triangle Mobility Hub project is the public’s feedback. Between Feb. 9 and March 13, 2026, GoTriangle is soliciting for feedback on key aspects of the Triangle Mobility Hub, its location, and more. The public’s response will inform implementation by project developers.
