Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project Video Highlights Operations & Maintenance Facility

The Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project is still in the planning stages, but a new video looks at an important part of the system that will help keep the rail line operating.

A new video called “Know the Facts: What is a Light Rail Maintenance Facility?” is being released on You Tube, giving viewers a glimpse of the current facility in Charlotte that serves the Lynx Light Rail line.

The video is available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCRMVN6ZK3M.

“We hope the video will give those interested in the rail project a better idea about this type of facility,” said Natalie Murdock, Interim Manager of Communications and Public Affairs for GoTriangle. “The video also shows how, with the right planning, a facility like this can be integrated into the community around it.”

Elected leaders and community representatives from Durham and Orange counties toured the Charlotte light rail maintenance facility in July. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement, including details about the proposed Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility, is expected to be released soon. A Final Environmental Impact Statement is expected to be completed in February 2016.
