AUG. 17, 2020 – GoTriangle has chosen Scott Thomas, formerly of Granville Health System, as its chief communications officer. He started in the role July 20.

As CCO of the Triangle’s regional transit provider, Thomas will provide strategic leadership and direction for GoTriangle’s communications, marketing, public involvement, community relations and Employer Services efforts and oversee the Communications and Public Affairs team.

“We are excited to have Scott join our team at this critical moment as we continue to plan and pivot because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” says GoTriangle President and CEO Charles E. Lattuca, who became the agency’s leader in March. “GoTriangle also is currently leading and participating in many transit initiatives, including a commuter rail line between Durham and Garner, a Triangle-wide mobile ticketing effort and updates to county transit plans.  Scott is an innovator who will help us improve transparency in communications and stakeholder engagement.”

Thomas will serve as the agency’s chief media spokesperson and public information officer. Thomas can be reached at 919-485-7413 or at sthomas@gotriangle.org.

He also oversees customer information efforts and agency publications; directs agency programs with employers, schools, community and business partners; and advises the agency’s senior management team and board members.

“I am pleased to join GoTriangle at such an exciting time, working alongside its talented communications and public affairs teams,” Thomas says. “The agency continues to work every day to improve and expand access to safe, reliable service throughout our region. I look forward to collaborating closely with leadership, staff and our board in sharing GoTriangle’s unique story as we continue to make exceptional public transportation the foundation of the region’s community, prosperity and mobility.”

Before joining GoTriangle, Thomas worked more than 11 years with the independent and nonprofit Granville Health System. In his last role as chief innovation officer, he led efforts to drive the vision and innovation of programs related to communications, employee engagement and business development for the health system and GHS Foundation.

In addition to attending to CIO responsibilities, he continued to serve and build strong relationships with state and local government leaders as GHS’ Government Affairs and Public Information Officer. Prior to GHS, Thomas worked for the State Health Plan, University Conference Services and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from California State University, Chico.
