When Tilly Reames unwrapped gifts during her retirement event at GoTriangle's Bus Training Room on May 22, 2025, a theme quickly developed. In addition to a lovely commemorative plaque, Reames’ haul included a gardening apron, garden decorations and even seeds. Reames even received a flower. “A Peace Lily for Miss Tilly,” was how Director of Fleet Maintenance Darrick Harris described it.
These gifts all reflected an appreciation for an employee who nurtured not only a long, loyal career – but the careers of her colleagues.
Said Transit Service Supervisor Robin Leonard: “I appreciate everything you’ve contributed to this place – and to my life.”
“You’ve been a good leader, a teacher and inspiration to us all -- a rock, the foundation of GoTriangle,” added Harris. “Your dedication is unmatched.”
Ah, yes. About that dedication. Reames started her GoTriangle career in 1993 – 31 years and seven months ago, to be exact. She began as a Dispatcher and then became a Bus Supervisor before joining the Maintenance Department as a Parts & Inventory Coordinator.
“It doesn’t feel like 31 years,” Reames said as she looked around the room. “It’s really been a pleasure to meet those here and those that have left.
“It’s been wonderful. I hope all of you stay as long as I have.”
