Working from home? GoTriangle webinar will help you put more comfort in your compute

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK (Sept. 30, 2020) – Many workers who transitioned temporarily to full-time teleworking because of the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t have designated office spaces at home and, six months in, their bodies and productivity are suffering.

To help, GoTriangle’s Transportation Demand Management Department is producing a webinar for anyone, including students learning virtually, who needs advice on ergonomics at home.

Julia Abate
The event, the second in GoTriangle’s Mission Impossible web series, will be Thursday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. and feature Julia Abate with the Ergonomics Center of North Carolina. Please reserve your spot at

Maybe your chair is too low or the table too high or the lamp is just too far away. If you’ve tried every imaginable position in every conceivable spot in your home and you still end every telework day with a new ache or pain, Abate’s expertise might help.

During the webinar, she will review the neutral postures that are best when working in an office setting. She’ll also identify common causes of discomfort and low-cost, quick fixes to improving the “temporary” home office.

GoTriangle’s Transportation Demand Management Department helps employers and employees with programs that reduce the number of people commuting alone in their cars, whether that’s with carpools or vanpools or by taking transit, bicycling, walking or teleworking.

The Mission Impossible web series specifically supports the telework programming by providing resources to help employees be productive, healthy and safe at home. Check out the first installment on cybersecurity with Chapel Hill’s Chief Information Officer Robert Reynolds at

The services and programs that the TDM department provides have significant impacts on commuting patterns, traffic congestion, personal health and finances and air quality in the Triangle. The grant-funded services, programs and materials are provided through a partnership of NC Department of Transportation, municipalities and public transportation agencies. Find out more here.
