GoTriangle to host Raleigh Union Bus Station Facility ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 25th

GoTriangle will host a ribbon-cutting celebration for the new Raleigh Union Bus Station Facility (525 West Hargett Street in Raleigh) on Friday, July 25th. The morning’s events will begin at 10 a.m. with special remarks, followed by the ribbon-cutting, tours of the new facility, giveaways, music, food trucks and more. The public is welcome to attend this event. 

Please note that bus service from the new bus station will begin on August 3.

GoTriangle to offer first-ever 15-minute bus service beginning in August

Beginning August 4, GoTriangle will offer for the first time in the transit agency’s history bus service in 15-minute intervals along Routes 400 and 405 in Durham and Orange counties. 

GoTriangle regularly reviews its routes and services; however, these upgrades are a priority for both the Durham Transit Plan and the Orange Transit Plan and were made possible by the funding from half-cent sales taxes directed toward transit improvements.

Some GoTriangle bus routes will change on August 3, 2025, to coincide with the opening of the new Raleigh Union Bus Station Facility on West Hargett Street – also known as “RUS Bus.” RUS Bus will result in expanded capacity to support continued investment in new and improved bus transit options for Raleigh and the region. Initially, four GoTriangle routes will be affected by its opening. 

GoTriangle seeks community input on proposed changes to Wake Forest-Raleigh Express

GoTriangle is seeking community feedback on proposed bus service changes to the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express (WRX). Scheduled to take effect in November, the changes are designed to increase frequency, enhance access to prime destinations, and optimize microtransit options with the goal of boosting overall ridership and route usefulness. Changes to the WRX would serve riders traveling from Wake Forest via a route ending at Triangle Town Center, while maintaining connectivity to Downtown Raleigh. 

GoTriangle names Hampton Roads transit veteran Smith as President and CEO

DURHAM, NC (May 12, 2025) – GoTriangle, the Research Triangle region’s transit system serving Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and surrounding communities, has announced that Dr. Brian Smith has been named the agency’s newest President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2025. A formal introductory event with Smith will be held next month.
